Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 - It's Here!

Release date:  July 28, 2009

Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 is now a free download.

If you haven't used Dream Sight Diary Database before, it's a database program designed to record your dreams.  Every good dream book says to keep a journal.  Some people prefer a paper dream journal.  We created a computerised Dream Journal because it allows us to search our dream records for similar themes and symbols, print reports and save our dream records in other formats, such as Word Processing Documents.

New Feature - Dream Analysis Tool

In the new Version 3 you can now work through dream analysis questions to help you understand what your dreams are trying to communicate.  We've also included a section where you can invent a Dream Alchemy practice and put it work to change your life, once you've understood your dream.  It's awesome stuff!  For a full list of features, click here.  You can also listen to a ten minute Podcast about Dream Sight Diary Database.

New Platform - Built in Microsoft Access 2007

Whilst Version 1 and Version 2 of Dream Sight Diary Database were created with earlier versions of Microsoft Access, Version 3 is built using Microsoft Access 2007.  This has meant that we can keep the features that existing users are familiar with, and make the program free.   Microsoft Access is one of the best database programs available for creating user friendly databases, and is relatively easy to distribute.

For users who do not have Microsoft Access 2007, you can download and install the free Microsoft Access 2007 Runtime program.  Download links for Dream Sight Diary Database and the Runtime program are further down the page.  Read the following before installing:

What You Need To Know Before Downloading And Installing Version 3

Earlier Versions of Microsoft Access - Important

If you are using any Microsoft Access databases on your computer that were created with versions of Microsoft Access prior to Access 2007, e.g. Access 2003, Access 2000 you need to know some 'work arounds' to make your existing databases open in the right version of Access. This is achieved by editing your desktop shortcuts to force the right version of Access to open - see this page about editing your desktop shortcuts before proceeding.

You may also want to consider whether it will cause you any grief or conflicts running two different versions of Access on your computer.  If you are not sure, research this issue first, before downloading and installing the Microsoft 2007 Access Runtime Program.  We are unable to predict every possible conflict that might occur where people are using databases created in earlier Access versions, or what other software you've installed on your computer that uses Microsoft Access as a platform.

(If you are not sure which version of Access you have installed open your Access Program, go to Help, then About, and it will tell you which version it is).

Users Who Do Not Have Microsoft Access Installed

Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 will only work with Microsoft Access 2007.  If you don't have Access 2007 you will also need to download and install the Microsoft Access 2007 Runtime program - it's also free. See the download links below for where and how to download and install it.

Users Who Do Have The Full Version Of Microsoft Access 2007 Installed

If you have Microsoft Access 2007 installed, you only need to download Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3, as it is compatible with the full version of Access 2007.

One thing you might like to know is that we've set the file extension on Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 to open in Runtime mode.  This makes the Access 2007 Ribbon and design features unavailable.  We did this so that users who are not familiar with Microsoft Access won't be confused by all the Access design features or accidentally modify the program.

Trial Versions of Microsoft Office Professional 2007

Many new computers are sold with trial versions of Microsoft Office.  If your trial version includes Microsoft Access 2007 and you are not planning on buying or activating the trial version of this product, you should remove it before installing the Microsoft Access 2007 Runtime program.

Dream Sight Diary Version 2 Users

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions before downloading and installing Version 3.

Operating Systems

We have only tested Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 on Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems.

If your computer's operating system is an earlier system such as Windows ME, 2000, or 98 - we don't know if it will work properly.  You might like to consider waiting until you are using a Microsoft Windows XP or Vista Operating system before downloading and installing these programs.  We also have not tested it on the Beta Windows 7 operating system.

Earlier Versions of Microsoft Access

If you have an earlier version of Microsoft Access installed on your computer, but never use it, you don't need to do anything more.  Dream Sight Diary Version 3 will only open in the full Version of Microsoft Access 2007 or the Microsoft Access 2007 Runtime program, so if you've downloaded and installed the 2007 Runtime program, you're ready to start using Dream Sight Diary.  You may wish to review the Tutorials before you begin.

If you are using databases created in earlier versions of Access, you can re-configure your shortcuts to open Dream Sight Diary Database in the 2007 Access Runtime and your other Databases in your version of Access.  For more information on how to do this click here.
