Searching Dream Records

The search feature offers many great advantages over paper based dream journals.

Firstly, if you are trying to find a dream, such as in the example where you think "wow, I've had another dream similar to this" or "oh, I know I've dreamed about 'dream symbol' before", you can run a search on the database.

Secondly, if you want to find a dream to finish off your analysis or edit it, you can simply 'search' for it, rather than clicking Next to find it.

Sometimes you can have a 'ah ha' months or even years after a dream, so you might want to find that dream and record your Interpretation on the Analysis Tab.

Searching by fields

When you search you need to click into the field that you want to search by.

For example, if you are looking for a specific dream and you know the Title (or part of the title) you would click into the Dream Title field and then click the Search button.

However, if you don't know the Title of the dream, but remember a keyword in the dream such as "mother" or "coke" you can click into the Dream Field and search for "mother" or "coke".

Whichever option you choose the search feature will find every record with that word or term you asked for, so be prepared that it may find more than one.

When the search screen appears you can modify the search settings, for improved functionality.

Example:

In this example, I've clicked into the Dream field, hit the search button, and typed the search term mother.

Note, I've also changed the Match to Any Part Of The Field.  (This seems to find more records).

Click the Find Next Button to find the first dream record with the search term in it.

Dream Sight Diary Database has found a dream with the word mother in it.  You can click Find Next to find the next dream with your search term in it.
